Safer Internet Forum to discuss media coverage of suicides and online suicide propaganda

7th International Safer Internet Forum, the industry’s main annual conference on issues of online safety, is to commence on April 27, 2016 in Moscow, Russia. One of this year’s workshops will be dedicated to issues of propaganda of suicide and prevention of suicidal behaviour online.

As a reminder, the 7th International Safer Internet Forum will take place on April 27 in the Rossiya Segodnya press centre. Its key topics will be Security of information space, Import substitution in hi-tech industry, Media and communication services security, Personal data safety, Quality of Internet content, Combatting cybercrime, Preventing suicidal behaviour online, and Combatting new online religious movements.

Attending the Forum will be Roskomnadzor, State Duma, Federation Council, and Interior Ministry officials, experts in information security, and industry representatives. Also confirmed to take part in the conference are: Igor Schegolev, Aide to President of the Russian Federation and ex-Minister for Communications and Media (2008-2012); Aleksandr Zharov, Head of Roskomnadzor; Yelena Mizulina, Deputy Chair of Constitutional Legislation and State-building Committee of the Federation Council; Konstantin Malofeyev, Safe Internet League Chairman of the Board; Pavel Astakhov, Children’s Ombudsman; Natalya Kasperskaya, CEO of InfoWatch; Ilya Massukh, President of Information Democracy Development Foundation, and others.

The conference will for the first time host a Russia-China forum on ICT development and security where Russian experts and government officials will be studying Chinese best practice in Internet regulation. Addressing the Forum will be Minister Lu Wei, Director of Cyberspace Administration of China.
